How does Hockerty sizing work?

What Hockerty publishes
- A conventional size chart on the brand's blog, with jacket size equal to the chest in inches and shoulder and sleeve alongside: US 34 → chest 34, waist 28, shoulder 17.0, sleeve 31.5; US 40 → 40 / 34 / 18.5 / 33.0; US 50 → 50 / 44 / 21.0 / 35.5.1
- It is a body chart, and Hockerty says the sentence most charts omit: "Use your actual body measurements, not the measurements of a jacket you already own."1
- The published US→EU conversion is the flat +10 rule: US/UK 34 = EU/IT 44, US 40 = EU 50, US 52 = EU 62.1
- The order form takes 12 body measurements — neck, torso length, sleeve length, shoulder width, chest, stomach, biceps, leg length, pants waist, hips, rise, thigh — each with a video guide (for the neck: "Keep the tape snug but not tight—you should be able to slide one finger underneath for comfort").2
- Where people go wrong at Hockerty: the estimator shortcut. The flow offers "Provide some basic info and we'll reveal your exact measurements" from height, weight and age. A predicted set is a statistical average for your height and weight, not your body.2
- The brand's own limit on the whole idea of a size chart, which it publishes while selling against ready-to-wear: "only about 15-20% of men have body proportions that match standard suit sizing", and "The number on the label is a starting point, not a guarantee". No methodology or source is cited for that 15–20%, so it is quoted as the brand's claim rather than adopted as fact.1
If you get it wrong
- "We guarantee a perfect fit" — free adjustments via a partner-tailor network, or any tailor with "costs covered by us according to after-sales conditions", and "On the rare occasion that a garment can't be altered to fit, we will remake it for you until it fits perfectly".3
- No dollar cap, no claim window and no exclusions are published on that page as of September 2026 — the numbers live in unlinked "after-sales conditions". That absence is the finding: compare Proper Cloth's stated $300 lifetime cap and Black Lapel's stated 60 days.3
