The verdict

Istanbul is the better value for a well-made suit — 31/100 vs 29/100

Istanbul gets you genuine canvas work if you pick the right shop at $400–$1,000, with hit-or-miss remote follow-up. Seoul runs $600–$1,500 for comparable make, with low sales pressure. Seoul still wins where it wins: world-class soft-tailoring ateliers.

WOW! Ordered a suit online with Linda. She contacted me by video call to go through the measuring process and once confirmed measurements again, around 4 weeks later a made to measure suit arrived in the UK. Fitted perfectly and I didn't even visit! Fantastic quality and customer service from Linda. Would definitely recommend!

Exceptional experience from start to finish. I ordered a fully custom two-piece double-breasted suit remotely from France, Linda and Jennifer guided me through every step with patience and professionalism. The suit arrived in under 3 weeks and the result is flawless: fabric, cut, lining, silhouette, everything is perfect. Nathan Tailors delivered exactly the vision I had in mind. I will absolutely be ordering again. Highly recommended.

This was my first time buying suits online so I was a bit apprehensive. However, the online order form was both easy to use and very thorough, and they did a video call with me to make sure of a couple of measurements that were out of the normal range. Two suits and a shirt arrived here in New Zealand in less than two weeks, are well-made, and fit perfectly. I'm thrilled with the service.

Istanbul vs Seoul — common questions

Is it cheaper to get a suit made in Istanbul or Seoul?

Istanbul is cheaper for genuinely well-made work: $400–$1,000 for half/full-canvas versus $600–$1,500 in Seoul. Real tailoring tradition + domestic wool industry; lira pricing makes good work cheaper than Western Europe.

Istanbul or Seoul — where is the suit quality better?

Istanbul: half/full canvas if you ask the right shop — Nişantaşı ateliers cut serious canvassed suits; Grand Bazaar tourist shops are a different (fused) economy. Seoul: canvassed construction is the norm — The new-generation ateliers cut serious canvassed suits with Italian-school styling.

Where are tailor scams worse, Istanbul or Seoul?

Istanbul carries more pressure: Bazaar-zone steering and carpet-shop-style sales tactics; the atelier district is pressure-free. By contrast, Seoul: None — appointment ateliers.

Can I reorder from Istanbul or Seoul after I fly home?

Istanbul: Ateliers respond online; no systematic remote culture. Seoul: Korean-language-first; international follow-up varies. If remote reordering matters, that difference usually decides the whole question — your second and third suits cost no flights.

So which should I choose, Istanbul or Seoul?

On trustworthy construction per dollar, Istanbul scores 31/100. Europe-based travellers wanting canvassed work below EU prices with old-world process. Seoul is the right call when: Style-driven buyers in Korea with patience for a true bespoke cadence.
