What Suitsupply says
- On its construction page, full canvas is "A full-body construction, with sharp edges & a firm structure. Full-canvas ensures the whole jacket stays in impeccable shape." Half canvas "ensures a natural form to the breast part of your jacket."1
- The same page describes the build without naming a grade elsewhere: a padded lapel with "1000 stitches to maintain volume and prevent the lapel from flattening", a "Smart Layer" around the chest and shoulders, and "At the Core: An extra form to maintain the drape of the fabric."1
- The page does not claim that no Suitsupply jacket is fused, and it does not map either construction to the Napoli, Havana, Lazio, Milano, Roma or Perennial lines. "Each and every jacket fits impeccably" is a fit claim, not a construction guarantee.1
- Custom Made is a choice, not automatically full canvas: "Full canvas provides a rich drape and elegant silhouette, or half canvassed offers a lighter, more natural wear, with horsehair & cotton canvas lining adding strength & structure." Delivery "in 2-3 weeks" from "700+ Fine Italian Fabrics" out of Biella; mills named are Drago, Rogna, Baird McNutt and Solbiati.2

What buyers and reviewers report
- A 2020 Gentleman's Gazette review mapped canvas to price: entry off-the-rack suits (then about $400) as "half-canvas jacket", premium suits around $999 and up as "full-floating canvas jackets", and "None of their jackets are fully glued." Its prices no longer match the current range; the half-versus-full split is the useful part, and it is third-party, not brand-stated.5
- The same review names mills VBC, Cerruti, E. Thomas, Ferla, Angelico, Huddersfield and Colombo, and rates workmanship "very high for an off the rack garment."5
How to tell in the store (and what the pinch test cannot prove)
- The standard instruction: pinch the sleeve first for a baseline, because sleeves are never canvassed, then pinch the cloth below the lowest buttonhole and pull the layers apart. Three layers means a canvas is floating inside; two layers means fused.78
- The catch most brand pages leave out: on a half-canvassed jacket the front below the second button is fused anyway, so a low pinch on a half-canvas jacket feels exactly like a fused one. The definitive statement of this is a 2012 Put This On piece; no newer primary write-up of the limitation was found, and current how-to pages repeat the test without the caveat.6
- Every jacket, fused, half-canvas or full-canvas, has a floating chest piece, so feeling a distinct layer at the chest proves nothing.6
- Net result: a low pinch that finds a floating third layer proves full canvas; a low pinch that finds nothing means fused or half-canvas, and the test cannot separate those two. Salespeople who can make the call are, in the same source's words, "very, very hard to find". The only reliable route is the brand's own published statement, which is why this page separates what the brand says from what buyers report.67
- Hand-feel is weaker evidence than it used to be: fusing "has gotten a lot better nowadays and is not always as stiff", which makes construction harder to judge by touch.8
