Walk-in/tourist quotes run $120–$300, but genuinely well-made (half/full-canvas) work costs $350–$700. Bangkok's package-deal model transplanted to a beach resort, with more aggression and a thinner skill base.
Are tailors in Phuket good quality?
Fused (glued) is the default. Resort-strip shops fuse almost universally; a couple of Patong/Kata names do passable half-canvas on request. On fabric: Poor on the strips — mislabeling is the norm. Insist on burn tests or walk.
How do I avoid tailor scams in Phuket?
High — aggressive touting / commission economy. The most aggressive touting in Thailand — beach-road hawkers, inflated "sales", relentless package upsells. Book named shops directly, never follow a driver's recommendation, and ask to see the canvas inside the jacket.
