Fabric
Nathan
Genuine wool, wool blends, merino, wool-cashmere, cotton-linen, tweed — choice of mill cloths.
Suitsupply
Italian mill wools; strong quality for the price.
Studio suits
Wide range from budget cotton, linen, tweed and blends up through Italian mills like Loro Piana, Scabal and Solbiati, with prices scaling strongly by fabric tier.
Studiosuits
Very broad range of lower-to-mid priced wool, wool blends, linen, cotton, corduroy, tweed, and occasional higher-end mills, generally lighter-weight and value-focused rather than luxury-Italian suiting.[1][3][7]
Turnaround
Nathan
2–3 weeks shipped worldwide (3–4 working-day make + express DHL/FedEx); 2 days in person in Hoi An.
Suitsupply
Same-day RTW; 2–3 weeks Custom Made.
Studio suits
Garments are made to order; typical online reports indicate production plus international shipping in the ballpark of a few weeks rather than days, with remakes adding more time.
Studiosuits
Typical stated make time is about 2–3 weeks for production plus shipping, though this can vary seasonally for custom orders.[1][3]
Fit process
Nathan
A master tailor reviews your self-measurements and photos BEFORE cutting and iterates over WhatsApp until the fit is right — a human check no online MTM algorithm gives you.
Suitsupply
In-store fittings with a bold, slim European cut; broad size range.
Studio suits
Remote ordering with self‑measurement or sending garment measurements; StudioSuits then adds standard ease based on chosen fit preference and offers limited alteration credit or remake if measurements or production are off.
Studiosuits
Customer self-measures using the site’s measurement guide and enters numbers online; the workshop cuts and sews to those specs with no in-person fitting, so any post-delivery tweaks are done locally by a tailor if needed.[1][3]
Returns / remake
Nathan
No cash refunds. Every garment ships with generous seam allowances + spare matching cloth so a local tailor can fine-tune it (you pay the local tailor). The team works with you over WhatsApp until the fit is correct.
Suitsupply
Historically customer-friendly returns with free shipping; some refund-process complaints.
Studio suits
As products are custom-made, no standard returns, refunds or exchanges; they instead offer free remake for clear production/measurement errors, a separate Fit Guarantee line for first‑time customers with free remake, and alteration reimbursement via gift certificates up to about $75 for full suits within roughly 30 days; customer usually pays to ship items back for inspection.
Studiosuits
Because items are custom made, they are generally non-returnable for a full refund; policies emphasize remakes/alterations or store-credit solutions when there is a clear manufacturing error rather than simple preference changes.[3]

Where each one wins — and doesn’t

Nathan Tailors

Anyone who wants true canvassed, body-pattern bespoke at off-the-rack money — and is fine waiting 2–3 weeks.

  • True half-canvas + bespoke pattern from $149 — undercuts every canvassed rival by 2–6×
  • Human pre-cut measurement review, not an algorithm
  • Unlimited design control; 5.0★ across 400+ reviews, 50+ countries
  • 2–3 week wait on remote orders (no same-day try-on)
  • No US showroom; relies on guided self-measurement + photos
  • Less mainstream brand recognition than a mall chain

Suitsupply

Buyers who want genuine half/full canvas they can try on today and don't mind retail markup.

  • Genuine half/full-canvas construction
  • Strong Italian fabrics and in-store tailoring
  • Try on and walk out the same day
  • $499 ticket becomes ~$750–$800 all-in after alterations
  • Bold slim Euro cut doesn't flatter every body
  • Retail overhead inflates price vs direct-from-workshop

Studio suits

Value-focused buyers wanting inexpensive custom-sized suits with lots of fabric/style options and can tolerate some fit risk and long-distance service.

  • Very low entry pricing for made-to-measure relative to most online MTM competitors
  • Large fabric catalog including genuine high-end Italian mills alongside budget options
  • Half-canvas construction advertised even on relatively inexpensive suits
  • No true returns and only limited remake/alteration credits increase customer risk versus mainstream brands
  • Fit consistency and quality control can be variable due to reliance on self-measurements and remote workshop production
  • Finishing, make quality and pattern sophistication are generally below higher-priced MTM and traditional bespoke tailors

Studiosuits

Cost-conscious buyers who want lots of style/fabric options and made-to-measure sizing online, and who accept some variability in construction and finishing versus higher-end MTM or traditional bespoke.

  • Very low entry price for custom-sized suits versus mainstream MTM
  • Huge range of fabrics, colors, and styling options for experimentation
  • Made-to-measure pattern adjustment allows better fit than basic off-the-rack for many body types
  • Canvassing and internal construction are budget-level and not clearly specified
  • Quality control and consistency are less reliable than established premium MTM houses
  • Remote self-measurement and limited refundability increase fit and risk burden on the customer

Being a short and stocky person, I could never truly get clothing that fitted properly. "Off the rack" was never an option... As I opened the small box, I got nervous and wondered if I made a big mistake and basically gambled away a fair amount of money. I ordered a 3 piece suit, 2 shirts and had a pair of leather dress shoes. Everything fitted nicely... the shirts were absolutely PERFECT.

WOW! Ordered a suit online with Linda. She contacted me by video call to go through the measuring process and once confirmed measurements again, around 4 weeks later a made to measure suit arrived in the UK. Fitted perfectly and I didn't even visit! Fantastic quality and customer service from Linda. Would definitely recommend!

Exceptional experience from start to finish. I ordered a fully custom two-piece double-breasted suit remotely from France, Linda and Jennifer guided me through every step with patience and professionalism. The suit arrived in under 3 weeks and the result is flawless: fabric, cut, lining, silhouette, everything is perfect. Nathan Tailors delivered exactly the vision I had in mind. I will absolutely be ordering again. Highly recommended.

This was my first time buying suits online so I was a bit apprehensive. However, the online order form was both easy to use and very thorough, and they did a video call with me to make sure of a couple of measurements that were out of the normal range. Two suits and a shirt arrived here in New Zealand in less than two weeks, are well-made, and fit perfectly. I'm thrilled with the service.
